What others are saying

  1. I've settled on Thomastik Vison

    Amy (verified owner)

I’ve settled on Thomastik Vison Solo strings for my favorite violin, and wanted to hear them with this rosin, but find I prefer the tonal qualities and bowing response I get with Melos light rosin with these strings.

  2. very good rosin

    Jonathan M. (verified owner)

I had been using Gand & Bernardel rosin but decided to try Thomastik rosin because the G&B rosin caused a harsh tone until it worked in (a matter of a few minutes playing). The Thomastik rosin sounds good from the beginning and also produces considerably less dust. In addition, Thomastik’s claim that their rosin reduces whistling on the E string seems to be true.

  3. will not adhere easily to bow hair

    Jonathan C. (verified owner)

This rosin is difficult to apply to bow hair and seems to be reluctant to leave the cake. I reverted to Bernardel rosin because the PI rosin was so problematic.

  4. not worth the price

    Jonathan C. (verified owner)

This rosin is difficult to apply, in that it does not adhere readily to the bow. After application of the rosin, the hair does not “bite” into the strings the way that it should. I finally gave up and went back to Bernardel rosin, my favorite.
