  5. The Prelude strings are excellent

    Roy N. (verified owner)

The Prelude strings are excellent for beginning students and are OK for many violins for better students. They are certainly better than some other steel-core strings that are a heavier gauge and put more stress on the instrument. As always, remember that some violins sound better with perlon strings, or a stranded steel core, or even a composite core; generally, the better instruments are worth more experimentation. I have taught fiddle for 50 years, and some fiddlers use “broken sets” – 2 or 3 strings of one type or brand and 1 or 2 of another – and classical violinists do the same!
