This e string has a clear, bright tone. It is not the most powerful E I’ve ever used on my instrument and I am curious to try the thick/hard guage. But I like the tone and it’s solid intonation.

This E string, in Silvery Steel heavy gauge, has replaced the excellent Prim Lisa as my favorite E string on my vintage violin. Its tone is warm, rich, and colorful (not harsh, thin, or bland) all the way up and down the range, with a good core to the tone and beautiful overtones, and it balances the lower strings perfectly. The heavy gauge has the same tension as many other medium gauge E strings, which is good for my violin. Sadly, the heavy gauge seems hard to find lately, but well worth the search!
