  1. Invaluable for the Viola Player

    Luis (verified owner)

This is a set of Études that contain the main themes from the pieces that it says (e.g. Beethoven’s Coriolan, 9th Symphony Scherzo, La Grotte de Fingal, etc) Most of these pieces tend to be high speed or virtuosic, particularly, The Battered Bride by Smetana. These are by no means transcriptions, Vieux has utilised the orchestral passages and condensed them and modified them to suit the Viola.
They are fun to play, which allows people to stay commited as they are learning the pieces.
There is an excellent recording of Marco Miscagnia, who records all études.
