Description
The Warchal Amber string set has been developed with the aim of achieving the sound qualities of the best gut strings without any tuning instabilities. The set features W-CoreĀ®, a completely new core material developed by the Warchal Research; Development team. The sound is rich and warm, but with depth and texture.
The Amber E string is based on Warchal’s newest research. The composition of the core increases the longitudinal elasticity of the string, which results in a significant sound improvement. The Amber E string, while plain steel, offers a warmer sound and no whistling.
Tone: Warm and complex
Playability: Highly responsive
Stability: Increased stability due to new core material
Standard Warchal Amber set composition:
E string: Steel
A string: Hydronalium over synthetic
D string: Hydronalim-Silver over synthetic
G string: Silver over synthetic
Also available:
D string: Pure silver over synthetic

Love this string. It pairs perfectly with my Dominant set, but produces much better tone than the Dominant E. No Whistling!

I’ve not used the whole set, just the E string. I was having trouble with a whistling E and can report that the Warchal E cured that on my violin.

Terrible on my violin. Tinny, shrieking, thin sound.

These are my preferred strings on my (loud) modern violin. They’re warm but have a clear tone. I use them for orchestral and chamber music. The E string took a little extra time to get used to (even when the spiral straightens out, there’s still a bit of a bump), and it’s a tiny bit harder to play in the fourth octave register, but the sound is worth it. The D and G are responsive, and I don’t feel that I have to avoid open Es at all costs. I *can* make the E string whistle, but it takes work, which is awkward if I’m trying to demonstrate that sound to a student.

I am new player and wanted to avoid the whistle on the E string. I realize part of it comes down to learning proper technique but the string still whistles very easily. I can run my finger or cloth down it (cleaning) and make it whistle every time.
